ATI mountain experience

ATI Mountain Experience is owned and run by Torkel and Annica Ideström. They live with their daughters, Matilda and Amanda, in a small mountain village in western Jamtland region, northern Sweden.

Torkel is originally from the southern parts of Sweden, but is “a northerner at heart". He is a qualified mountain and wilderness guide, has studied ecology and is a member of the local mountain rescue team. Aside from running the business he has also worked as a teacher, carpenter, caretaker… Skiing and the mountains are his great passions in life.

Annica was born and raised in the mountains of Jamtland. She is a trained mountain and wilderness guide, and has an M.Sc. in Physical Geography. She has worked as manager at Vålådalen Nature Visitor Center (naturum) for many years and as a mountain ranger. Between the guiding jobs, she has been working for the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency with outdoor recreation topics and also educates at the Mid University of Sweden. Kayaking and all types of skiing make her especially happy.

Both Annica and Torkel have more than 25 years experience of the outdoors, working with guiding and wilderness educational activities, for the last 15 years within their own company.

In 1997 the couple carried out an expedition called Sverige Runt (Around Sweden) and in 2001 they carried out the Swedish Greenland Expedition - In Nansen’s Footsteps. Except from fantastic, life-long memories, both of these expeditions provided invaluable skills and experience of spending time in the mountains, in forests and on the water, in all circumstances – possible and impossible.

In 2002 their company became approved an Eco Tourism organizer and was awarded the Natures Best certification for several of its courses.

In 2014 they have been traveling and learning about the concept and decision tool Holistic Management in other parts of the world - USA, Chile and New Zealand. Very likely they will join the Nordic Savory Hub and plan to be an active part in educating and spreading the concept of HM.

ATI Mountain Experience’s ambition is to provide people interested in the outdoors with genuine, exclusive experiences in the mountains and wilderness, with knowledge, passion and a high natural value.

Torkel and Annica’s motto is: Each day matters!
